Sum 41 released another song (and music video), “War”, off their upcoming album 13 Voices. This song deals with frontman Deryck Whibley’s struggles with substance abuse and overcoming addiction. Writing this song was a way of putting everything in perspective for Whibley, and is a great example of something I think has always been one of Sum 41’s greatest strengths. The song has a sober and moving message and feeling, but is still about to pack a solid punch musically. They don’t often go for the classic ballad formula, and they don’t have to, because the style they use in these types of songs always feels way more wholesome and true, and are great pieces of music. Enjoy.
