The Review (5/21-5/27)

Bowtie game strong. This week in my world of music:

Eric Bellinger starts the week off with lead single, ends with release of EP

The R&B crooner is back at it again with a new song “Spare Time” that has a chill vibe but also a strong 808 you would hear in a club. His EP “Eventually” is out now so check that out in your ‘spare time’ ;).

Rookie Fresh continues to put out new music

“Delorean Gang 2.0” is Rockie Fresh’s latest release, following his mixtape series “The Night I Went To…” He continues to impress with this spacey, futuristic sounding jam. This has a smooth feel to it, perfect for riding through the city with your woes.

Damian Lillard: hot on and off the court

I’ve said on this site before to watch out for Dame Lillard. Well, he dropped another song this week over a Jahlil Beats instrumental and it’s straight fire. Dame can ball on the court and on the track.

More smooth West Coast bars coming your way

“Bad Boy on Death Row” is Dave East’s latest offering featuring Game and let me say that it is really dope. So smooth and the back and forth verses from both artists sounds perfect together.

Trey Songz bringing the HEAT

Trey has been quiet for the past few months but he came in real hot with his newest banger “All I Had.” This is a remix to Belly and The Weeknd’s “Might Not.” This song is sure to get the party started or keep the party going but bottom line is play this to get the people going. In addition, he also dropped 3 other remixes that you can check out but this was the stand-out in my opinion.

Finally, we don’t have to listen to Pitbull during the Finals!

I love basketball. Love playing it. Love watching it. But every year, while watching the Finals, I am forced to listen to some new god-awful Pitbull song every commercial break. Not this year, babay! The Roots were chosen to create this year’s song, which comes to us in the form of “Champion.” This song is greatness.

Three fresh remix’s of Fat Joe’s smash hit “All The Way Up”

The legend Jay-Z hops on the official version of the remix.

Meek Mill throws more shots at Drake and Fab drops another solid verse to no one’s surprise.

Jadakiss decides to freestyle a verse over the infectious beat as well.

Ladies and gentlemen, Gucci is free!

ATL legend Gucci Mane was released from prison yesterday after an over 3 year long stay and wasted no time releasing new music. The title speaks for itself.

Joey Bada$$ comes through again

I’ve been listening to Joey more and more and I’m loving what I’m hearing. His new song “Devastated” is another really good song, with an uplifting hook and some dope flows spit throughout.

New Kevin Gates

Kevin Gates dropped “Murder for Hire 2” today hot off the success of his latest album (especially the single “2 Phones”). It’s only 8 songs with a running time of about 30 minutes but is sure to keep Gates fans satisfied. I’ll be giving this a listen later on.

Fifth Harmony releases “7/27”

Fifth Harmony has been a mainstay on the pop charts with “Work From Home” and today they released their new album. The album only has three features but they are good ones in Ty Dolla $ign, Fetty Wap, and Missy Elliot.

XO and Roc Nation artist Belly releases new album “Another Day in Paradise”

I’m new to the Belly bandwagon but from the little I’ve heard, I’m a fan. This dude is going to blow up fast so I suggest hopping on that bandwagon now so you look cooler in a few years.

That is a lot of music for you but some more you may want to check out: Casey Veggies released a mixtape entitled “Customized Greatly 4: The Return of the Boy.” YG dropped his lead single “Why You Always Hatin?” featuring Drake and Kamaiyah. Snoop Dogg released 2 new songs and announced his upcoming album is dropping on July 1st. And finally, O.T. Genesis dropped off a new remix of his smash hit “Cut It” featuring verses from Lil Wayne and T.I. That’s it for me. Enjoy your weekend, folks.
