The Third Annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure event was held earlier this month on May 15, and it’s an event I look forward to every year. Not only is the event for a great cause, the proceeds of which go to The Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, but it is a great night of music as well. For me, as a huge Metallica fan, I always look to see what James Hetfield plays at the event. He often plays a Metallica song that no one would think to play acoustic, and this year he busted out an acoustic version of “Motorbreath” from Kill ‘Em All. Hetfield followed up with “The Unforgiven” and covered “I’ll Put a Spell on You” with his daughter, Cali. No high quality video of the full show has surfaced yet, but I’ll include the best version I found of Hetfield’s section below. Of course many other artist appeared to support the cause, and I’m sorry I can’t write on all of them. But be sure to check out the bill yourself and find some bits of other performers from the show.
