Today was a fantastic day. Starting in the beginning hours of the day, aka last night after midnight, the world witnessed one of the best nights in NBA history. First, the Warriors went out and dismantled the Grizzlies for their record breaking 73rd regular season win. Steph Curry shot the lights out, making his 400th 3 pointer of the season in the process, on his way to a 46 point effort despite only playing 3 quarters. As if that weren’t enough, Kobe Bryant decided to one-up that historic performance with one of his own. The Lakers have been awful all year and Kobe has been painfully mediocre but you just had a feeling something special was going to happen. But nobody could’ve predicted what happened. Kobe decided to drop a cool 60 points in his farewell game, going 5-5 from the field and 4-4 from the line for 15 points in the final 3 minutes of the game. Oh, yeah, and he hit the game winning shot with about 30 seconds left. We won’t see anything like this again for a long time.
After a nice night’s sleep, I wake up and head to today’s Pirates game. The beautiful weather makes up for the less than beautiful play the Pirates displayed today. Nothing can bring me down at this point. So I get in the car to go home and decide that the first throwback that comes on in my special playlist is going to be today’s TBT joint. And of course it is this absolute jam from David Banner and the gang. This was a time in music when Lil Wayne was untouchable and Akon was THE guy for hooks (along with T-Pain).
And because I’m nice, here’s a tribute of my own (well, technically of Lil Wayne’s) to the mamba.
