Dr. Dre to Release First Album in 16 Years

Yesterday, Dr. Dre stopped by the Beats 1 Radio Show to announce something that we’ve been waiting over 15 years for. Dre announced that he is releasing a new album this Friday, titled Compton: A Soundtrack. According to Dre, he was extremely inspired by the upcoming N.W.A. movie Straight Outta Compton and recorded a full 16 track album which comes out this Friday the 7th. The album is going to include features from Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Jill Scott and many more.

You may be asking yourself is Dr. Dre ever going to release Detox?? The answer to that question is no. Dre explained on the radio show that he had finished Detox, but didn’t think that it was good enough to release to the public, and didn’t want to half ass it for his fans and for himself. I am so excited for this new album, which should bring us back to the good old G-Funk days (aka before I was even born..) and I plan on bumping this album from the moment it’s in my iTunes library to the moment I step into the Loews Theater to buy my ticket to Straight Outta Compton. Get Compton: A Soundtrack this Friday on iTunes and catch Straight Outta Compton next Friday in theaters near you. Here’s a throwback to get you excited for what’s to come on Thursday.
