I was preparing to write about a completely different song last night until I came across this gem. I had seen it on the Rap Genius hot page for the past couple days and decided to give it a listen. That is quite possibly the best decision I’ve ever made in my 22 years of existence.
Don Jazzy is a producer/singer-songwriter from Nigeria who, according to Wikipedia (the finest source of information available), has won multiple Producer of the Year awards in Nigeria. This song proves why. The beat is very Timbaland-esque and it slaps. I seriously love every aspect of it. The baseline, the drums, the background vocals. It’s truly amazing. I can’t help but dance as soon as it starts. I will definitely be listening to whatever this guy puts out in the future.
Plus, he gets a feature from one of the best rappers in the world: Jay Electronica. Jay Electricity is one of the realest rappers out and is extremely selective about the music he puts out. If you don’t know him, and you like dudes who spit with purpose and meaning in their lyrics…get familiar.
Verse 1 is Reekado Banks, verse 2 is Di’ja, and verse 3 is Jay Electronica
